I spent Saturday morning at the GROW Nebraska Holiday Store in Lincoln handing out flyers about utilizing my book “Gibbon’s Secrets” as Christmas presents for individuals that enjoy history and signing the purchased copies. I was able to share the true story of the December 15, 1941 Gibbon Grade School Christmas program and how the people in attendance started the evening with heavy hearts, but left the auditorium with smiles on their faces. They all were thanking the Lord for the innocence of these Gibbon Grade School students, and the joy they brought to everyone this night.
We started the morning at 9:00am with 7 copies of my book “Gibbon’s Secrets” and by noon had sold out all available copies. The response was related to the remembrance of many of the interested shoppers to how December 7th had affected someone in their family or how a member of their family was interested in the history of World War II. Even though my book is a combination of true facts and fiction; the listing of World War II battles and happenings at the end of each year does relate that true history to the home front of Gibbon Nebraska and how it affects the “Five Friends Forever” and their families.
I will be at the GROW Nebraska Holiday Store in Lincoln again this coming Saturday, hopefully with a fresh shipment of “Gibbon’s Secrets” to sign for interested history buffs. The books can be ordered on the Amazon web site with promises of quick shipments to meet Christmas needs http://amzn.to/tXAfwh if I run out again. If you read this NEWS posting, come to the GROW Nebraska Holiday Store in the Lincoln Westfield Gateway Mall and I will gladly share my stories about writing “Gibbon’s Secrets” and to sign copies you buy.
